information

Ordering a wedding cake doesn't need to be complicated or difficult but understandably you may not know exactly how much you cake you might need or how much to budget for your cake. Most questions are answered in my FAQ but if you have any other questions i'd be more than happy to help.

Wedding cakes are extremely fragile to transport which is why it's essential that I deliver and set-up your tiered cakes on your wedding day. I'm also able to provide a styling service should you require it to really make your cake look truly wonderful.

My studio is located in Surrey and I deliver to all surrounding regions such as Hampshire, Berkshire, Sussex, Kent, Dorset, London and the Cotswolds.

Set-up at the venue is generally between 1 -1.5 hours and travel is charged at £0.50 per mile plus travel time at £15.00 per hour return from Surrey. Both will be included in your quotation.

All of my cakes, biscuits and sweet treats are produced in an environment where gluten, nuts, milk and eggs are present. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that a product will be 100% free-from. I am able to make cakes for clients with intolerances or for dietary preferences but we do not cater for clients or guests with severe allergies as our kitchen is not a certified allergy free work space.

My aim is to always produce interesting and delicious flavours for my clients and each cake is made fresh to order using only the best ingredients sourced from local suppliers where feasible. Main ingredients include:
  • High quality British butter
  • Higher welfare free-range local eggs from Chapel Farm in Surrey
  • Sustainably sourced finest Belgian Chocolate by Callebaut
  • Luxury Swiss fondant icing
  • British flour and sugar
  • Summer seasonal fruit from local Surrey farm Garsons
  • Ethically produced vanilla by Littlepod
  • Curds, caramels and pralines are all made exclusively in-house.

I offer a wide variety of cake flavours to cater for all tastes including light and airy sponges or rich and indulgent mud cakes on my flavour menu

However, should you be keen to have a flavour that's not currently on my menu that's absolutely possible. There may be an additional fee of £50 for any menu development that may be required but if it's your dream to have a decadent Black Cherry or perhaps a rich creamy Biscoff cake then you absolutely should! Just mention this to me at your consultation.

Absolutely! I offer a range of additional dessert table items. From Macaron towers, croquembouche and luxury patisserie items to iced biscuits, cupcakes, chocolates, brownies etc. Everything is made fresh to order in my kitchen studio using only the best luxury ingredients.

Feel free to drop me an email or chat to me about dessert table options at your consultation.

I am an avid collector of beautiful cake stands (it's actually a bit of an addiction for me!) so if you require a cake stand for your wedding cake, which we will discuss in your consultation, I'll have a wide variety of options for you to select from. I'll also provide you with guidance over which stand would look the most beautiful with your cake.
I also have a range of plinths and styling props available for hire in local venues where a collection fee will be charged.

Stand hire will vary but is generally between £15-£30 per stand. A damage deposit of between £50-£150 will be charged for all stand or plinth hires and will be returned to you when the stand is delivered within 5 days to my Surrey Studio, undamaged and clean.

Destination weddings are a beautiful option but it's sometimes difficult to find the suppliers you love from the wedding venues local suppliers. I adore destination weddings and would happily quote for your wedding cake so please do get in touch and let's chat about your day.

Please note that all travel expenses and time for the duration of the trip will be charged.

This really is the big question! Unfortunately, it's not a simple one to answer as the price of your cake will depend on a number of factors including:
  • Size (number of tiers, number of portions required)
  • If your cake is being served as dessert or in the evening
  • The use of sugar/wafer paper flowers or fresh flowers
  • The design complexity - simple buttercream or an intricate ruffle cake

Please note that I have a minimum spend of £900 for peak wedding season. This can include wedding favours or dessert table items but does not include delivery.

As a guide, most couples tend to invest beween £800-1200 for a 3-tier wedding cake.

With my cakes you are paying for luxury, organic ingredients, my professionalism and experience to create a delicious work of edible art.

This really depends if you are planning to serve your guests their cake as dessert or in the evening as the portion sizes are quite different. My wedding portions are defined as 1" x 1" x 5-6" tall and a dessert portion is 1" x 2" x 5-6" tall.

If you are serving your cake in the evening, my recommendation is to allow for around 75-80% of your guest numbers to have a slice of cake as not everyone will want one.

Additional portions can be provided by using cutting cakes which are served by your catering team from the kitchen so if you would prefer a smaller cake, but to cater for larger numbers, this is a great option.
.
Should you prefer to have a big showstopper cake but do not require as many portions you could consider replacing real cake tiers with artficial 'faux' tiers. There is a slight cost reduction with this option but please note that a significant proportion of the price of your wedding cake is for the skill and time decorating.

Absolutely! Once you are all booked in we'll schedule a time to have our consultation call where we'll discuss your wedding and cake in detail. After which time I will go away and create a sketch (or two!) of your proposed cake. My sketches are beautiful hand-drawn digital examples of what your cake could look like.
Many couples cherish their sketches and some use them as their cake menu beside their cake on the wedding day.

Yes! I offer lots of beautiful edible favour options. From delicious macarons, artisan lollipops to hand-made Belgian chocolates, marshmallows or personalised biscuits.
There are so many options available and your favours should reflect your wedding day and you as a couple.
Prices start from £1.50.

Sustainability: Extremely important to me as both an individual, a business owner and a parent. I believe we all have a role to play in our society to be more sustainable for our future and those of the generations to come.  In every area of my business I look at where I can do better whether that is through the ingredients and packaging I use, how I recycle and re-use where appropriate, my energy usage and processes. My aim is to always minimise waste and maximise efficiencies.

Inclusivity: I welcome all couples regardless of ethnic diversity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or mental health. To me love is simply love. Kindness, honesty and integrity are fundamental to me and I would expect that mutual respect.

Philanthropy (Giving Back): I work with my local hospice to provide birthday cakes for terminally ill patients and their families at a time where cake is probably the last thing on their mind but which can provide a tiny bit of  joy in moments of sadness.
Every year I pledge to give 2% of my profits to a worthy charity. For 2023 I will be giving this to www.alzheimers.org.uk a charity which is very close to my heart as well as taking part in their annual 'Bake for Dementia' week in April to raise additional funds.

Cancellations/Refunds
The booking fee is non-refundable and non-transferable in the event of cancellation.  Cancellations from the date of booking until 60 days before the wedding will forfeit the booking fee.
Cancellations with less than 60 days notice are subject to full payment. If this has not already been paid then the final balance will be immediately payable upon cancellation. This final payment is non-refundable in the event of cancellation if that cancellation occurs within 60 days of the wedding date.
There may be a rare occasion when Anna Lewis Cake Design needs to cancel an order due to exceptional circumstances beyond our control*. In this case, as much notice as possible of the cancellation will be given and any monies paid, including deposits will be refunded. If required, we will also assist in finding a replacement baker of the same high standard to make your cake for you.

*This does not include a force majeure that may occur on the event day.
